Am I late to the game? I think I must be late to the game! How have I not tried the Lacura RENEW Q10 range yet? I used the Lacura Caviar Illumination products for a long time and I bloody loved them. (I was also convinced that I had reviewed those, seemingly not!)
I’ve been using a different (and much more expensive brand) for a while now but when I ran out of night cream I didn’t replace it. Big mistake! Jaysus my skin is shocking! Anyway, I don’t have an Aldi where I live so it’s literally like I live on another planet sometimes when I find things in there! (Like that ‘Bag that’s a Bowl’ thing!!) So when I saw the RENEW Night Cream and I thought I’d give it a go!
What it is:
This is an anti-wrinkle Night Cream containing Q10, a Retinol complex (vitamin A) and Avocado Oil.
Want a little science lesson? Q10 is naturally in our bodies and is pretty important to the function of all the body’s cells (liver, heart and skin). Things like illness, stress and an unhealthy lifestyle can cause a greater demand for Q10 in the body. This causes the skin to suffer as the body distributes the coenzyme to the places that need it most. So skin loses it’s firmness and elasticity and you end up with shite skin. Bet you like the sound of Q10 right now!
What the cream promises:
- A special Retinol Complex stimulates cell growth and regulates cell division
- Coenzyme Q10 promotes the energy supply of the skin cells and reduces the appearance of fine lines
- The skin’s biological functions are stimulated and elasticity is clearly improved. Vitamins E, F and Avocado Oil help regenerate the skin
- Provitamin B5 and special Protein Complex help improve skin suppleness
What I thought:
Well, I’m not suddenly wrinkle free or anything but I definitely like the results I’m getting. It’s incredibly moisturising but not in a way that leaves an oily residue. This is important to me as I have combination skin. I’m prone to spots in the oily areas if I’m not careful about what I put on my face. When I wake up in the morning I do have a bit of a sheen but that’s always the case with any night cream I use. My complexion seems brighter too and the physical feel of my skin when I touch it is quite nice. (This was my first comment about it to my hubby actually!) It is scented, but it’s really light and once it is on you the scent doesn’t linger. (Nothing worse than an overpowering smell from a moisturiser!)
I couldn’t really do a before or after photo because, well you wouldn’t see a difference! So I’ve just swatched it on my hand. You can see how thick and creamy it is but how it disappears into my wrinkly hideous hand with no residue! Lovely 🙂
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this product. It’s actually surprised me because one doesn’t usually have great expectations from budget buys – I’ve bought my fair share of rubbish I never used. It’s quite lovely and a great one to try if you’re budget savvy when it comes to skincare!
Thanks for reading! 😉
