HAIR: Dry Hair Fix with L’Oreal Elvive Masque for Afro Hair (Don’t Ask!)

IMG_1141

My hair annoys me so much lately, it’s dry and dull and just sad in general  – I say lately but it’s actually been about 3 years!  I moved house then and at first I thought it was because I was giving it less attention but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with hard water.  Having said that, I still live in the same town so I’m really just grasping at straws here!

Anyway, I was thinking about it.  How did I used to be able to actually DO THINGS with my hair – curls, waves, different styles etc – and manage to look half decent?  What’s different now?  So, first thing I did was change my heat protection to my old favourite!  Oh, TRESemmé!  I’m so sorry I ever left you.  It’s amazing,  I reviewed it before and it’s still my favourite.

Sorry, I’m rambling….

Back to my point, the next thing I did was try to figure out what conditioning treatment I was using back when my hair was doing things that I liked!  Well I couldn’t find it so I browsed around Boots and I came across this:

L’Oreal Elvive Curl Nourishment Masque

Look closely, yes – it does say it’s for Afro hair!  I don’t know what I was doing but I found myself in the black hair section and I spotted this.  I read the packaging and it sounded like exactly what I needed.  In fairness, anyone who has seen my natural hair would probably agree it’s not that unlike Afro hair! (And that hair can be seen on posts on this site)

Anyway, it turns out this was exactly what I needed.  To be honest, I’m not a massive fan of L’Oreal Elvive – I get a rash on my neck from most of the products – so I think fate brought us together or something, haha!

What I say:

I have been using it for about a month now .  I use it every time I wash my hair and as you can see I’ve used very little but I am so pleased with the results.  The Masque is really thick in texture and literally feels like butter in your fingers but it actually doesn’t weigh the hair down!  Suddenly, my hair is much more manageable and I’m finally bothered to put some curls or waves in!  I’m delighted and it gets a huge thumbs up from me!

What L’Oreal say:

‘The ultra- rich formula infused with Amla oil and 6 precious flower oils. The curl nourishment masque envelops each fibre providing supreme nourishment without weighing the hair down.  Results: Experience a beautiful curl transformation. Touch voluptuous softness. See lustrous shine. Feel intense nourishment. Smell luxurious oils.”

It’s obviously not a complete miracle worker – I still need to figure out a solution to my hard water problem but more on that later!

Thanks for reading! 😉
