I’ve never felt the need to do a post on a “disappointing product”, until now. I have honestly just been so unhappy with how the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Shampoo has performed, that I have to write this review.
For months and months I was using the Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Purple Shampoo, and I was so, so happy with it!
The last time it ran out though, I decided to get the John Frieda one, as there was a 3 for 2 in Boots! Now, I should say I adored the other two John Frieda products that I bought, but this purple shampoo is definitely one of the most disappointing products I’ve ever used!
1. It’s REALLY drying! I definitely feel like my hair is being damaged by the product. Since I’ve started using it, my hair doesn’t feel or look the same. My hair feels dry and coarse and nowhere near as manageable as before! My husband also used this shampoo when we bleached his hair, and he said he didn’t like how it left his hair feeling – for a man to be able to notice that, it must be pretty bad!
2. It doesn’t work! In terms of brassy tones in the hair, the parts I was already happy with, remained fine. However, since the last time I bleached my hair, I’ve noticed distinct brassy tones in those areas! It doesn’t do the number one thing it’s supposed to do!
3. It smells BAD! Maybe, on some level, I’m just comparing it to the gorgeous smell of the Lee Stafford purple shampoo, but when I open this one and I just find it so overwhelmingly bad! It smells quite harsh like chemicals or hair dye – quite unusual for John Frieda products!
So, there you have it. The John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Shampoo gets a giant THUMBS DOWN from me! If you’re looking for a purple shampoo for bleached or ombréd hair – Lee Stafford’s Bleach Blondes Shampoo remains my favourite, and it’s the one that I would recommend to everyone!
Hopefully this is of some help to someone! Thanks for reading! x
