I read that applying used coffee grounds topically to the skin has been known to have the benefits mentioned above!
I’ve been in the sun so much recently that I was in need of a good exfoliating scrub, and as we always start our day with a coffee I thought I’d give this a go. You can use this on your face and body, so that’s what I did.
I just used the granules alone, but you can mix them with honey too which acts as natural anti-inflammatory and is a good bonding agent.
It is extremely messy but the results were lovely, my skin was noticeably softer immediately after rinsing. Usually I put that down to moisturisers or oils in a body scrub, but there was obviously nothing extra in this ‘scrub’ so I was really happy. Does it work for all the benefits it promises? I really don’t know, but I will definitely be trying it again – even if it is just to exfoliate!
If you want to give it a go here’s what I did:
Step 1: Have your morning coffee! Empty used coffee granules into a bowl and leave them to cool.
Step 2: Exfoliate! I stood in the bath for this as it is extremely messy! Starting at your feet, rub the coffee in circular motions onto your skin, work your way up and finally do your face.
Step 3: Rinse! Once you’ve applied the coffee to your whole body begin rinsing. If you have a shower attached to your bath it’s probably best to rinse off in there. Then continue with the rest of your normal showering routine and moisturise after!
